Trend Alert: 4 Top Spring Beauty Trends You Need to Try

At MissRubyLegwear, we’ve made no secret that we LOVE spring: the gorgeous weather, the sensational scents and the chance to break out our sexiest sheer pantyhose and favourite summer dresses again. What’s not to love?

We’re not just passionate about seasonal fashion and hosiery, though. Like fashion, makeup techniques fluctuate with the seasons – knowing which trends are currently en vogue can instantly transform your style from fairly fashionable to head-turningly trendy.

Not sure where to start? No worries! We’ve tracked down 4 top spring makeup trends for 2015 that you need to try, from pretty pastels to luscious lip-glosses.

Let’s get started.

  1. Just Bitten Lips

If you’re going out on the town and want something a bit less subtle, swap your lipstick for a lip tint. Marsala, a seductive berry shade from Pantone’s hottest Spring 2015 line-up, is a great choice when you want to ooze sensuality. Try Revlon’s Colourstay Moisture Stain in Stockholm Chic (Priceline – $25.95).

Spring makeup is all about capturing a dewy, youthful glow. When we’re young, our lips are beautifully flushed with colour, even sans makeup. Unfortunately, we lose some of that pigmentation as we age. Luckily, we can recreate the Parisian catwalk trend of ‘just bitten’ lips by applying a coat of any MLBB (‘my lips but better’) lipstick or balm to freshly moisturised lips. Revlon had the right idea with their Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey (Priceline – $17.95).

2. Bold Eyeliner

For a trendy spring look, swap your trusty black eyeliner for one of the season’s tempting oceanic blues. If you’re really in the mood to turn heads, wing your liner outward into a dramatic cat eye. It’s best to use a liquid liner pencil for precision. However, if you’re not super confident with liquid eyeliner, you can also try a gel liner, like the AUSTRALIS Gelifeye Gel Liner in Ice Tonic (Priceline – $11.49) , for easier application.

When we think spring makeup, often pretty pastels are the first thing that comes to mind. While lovely lilacs and soft pinks are still in season, spring 2015 beauty trends have also taken a turn for the bold. New York Fashion Week saw some seriously bold eyeliner in play, from wild cat-eyes to mod and Arabic inspired flicks.

3. Dewy Skin

Our current favourite BB Cream is the LA ROCHE-POSAY Uvidea XL Melt-In BB Cream (Priceline – $32.99), because it boasts SPF 50+ and moisturises the skin for an even, hydrated complexion.

A dewy complexion is a must-have for spring. Like just bitten lips, glowing skin adds a touch of youthfulness to your appearance, whether you’re newly 20 or gracing 40. Of course, there’s a big difference between dewy and oily! That’s why we prefer to switch from heavy foundations to light-weight BB creams during the warmer months. In addition to feeling lighter, most BB creams have the added benefit of SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays.

4. Fresh, Fruity Nail Polishes

We love OPI’s Strawberry Margarita (Adore Beauty -$19.95). It adds a playful pop of berrylicious colour to any spring outfit. Create an eye-catching accent nail by dipping a toothpick or nail brush into white nail polish and applying it in dots onto your ring finger.

As much as we love dark nail polishes, it’s time to ditch winter’s moody colour palette in favour of something a little more fresh and Pantone’s Spring 2015 colour palette is filled with inspiration. The top nail polish shades this season all have something in common: they look good enough to eat! Tangerine, strawberry ice… if it sounds delicious, fruity and fresh, it’s bang on trend.
